Popular micro-blogging website Twitter seems to have no plans of slowing down when it comes to adding new features. The social media giant recently rolled out a new redesign of its interface with improved dark mode and it appears like the social media giant is planning to establish an update streak with five new features in the pipeline:
1. Snooze Notifications
It can be really annoying when you get flooded with a ton of notifications from Twitter at the wrong time. You might be busy or staying focused on something really important when your friend decides to increase their concern towards you by constantly @ing you. Twitter is working on a solution to this as it is testing an approach to temporarily snooze the notifications. According to the official tweet by Twitter on its Twitter handle, you can choose to snooze notifications for 1 hour, 3 hours, or 12 hours.
2. Follow Topics
Twitter is also testing a feature where you will be able to follow certain topics just like how you follow people. In doing so, you will be able to find similar tweets that suits your interests even if you are not following the person who tweeted it.
The topics will be chosen by Twitter and the tweets that come under them will be curated by machine learning algorithms. As of now, only topics related to sports are supported but that will change once the feature is ready to be rolled out to the public.
3. Tweet Reply Notifications
You will soon be able to seamlessly catch up with all those nail-biting conversations or debates going on Twitter. Yes, Twitter is working on a feature that will allow you to turn on notifications for specific tweets that intrigues you so you don’t miss out on any updates.
Even here, Twitter is giving more control to the user by letting you choose to get notifications just for the top replies or for all the replies to the tweet.
4. DM Search
One of the most essential features Twitter lacked is the ability to search for direct messages. Well, not anymore. You will soon be able to search for your DMs by typing in the name of the person in the search box. I would call it a neat addition as it improves accessibility.
5. Support for Apple’s Live Photos
Until now, whenever you upload a Live Photo from iOS devices, it appears as a static image. That’s about to change soon with an upcoming update. The Live Photos will be displayed as GIFs so that the liveliness of the image does not get lost when you take a look at it sometime in the future.
So, that sums up our list of upcoming Twitter features that will come soon to a Twitter app near you. Which feature are you excited the most for? Let us know in the comments.
