The way we use our fingers to use our smartphones each day tends to tire them. Of course, not using a ‘smartphone’ is not an option, so why not try browsing the internet with your eyes? Hawkeye Access tries to bring the same eye browsing to your iPhones.

Hawkeye Access App

Developed by Hawkeye Labs, the Hawkeye Access app is a web browser that uses iPhone Face ID hardware to help you browse with your eyes.

The app allows you to use your eyes and facial movements to go through various web pages. You select a particular option by smiling, blinking, or looking at the option for a while. There are four simple gestures to follow:

  • Look at the edge of the display to scroll through the pages.
  • Smile, blink or continue to look at an option to select it.
  • Look at the bottom right corner to go back to the Home screen.
  • Look at the left edge of the display to go back to the previous web page.

The Hawkeye app further supports various social media apps such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

Here’s a look at the app’s working for a better understanding:

Hawkeye Access: My Experience

Once you open the Hawkeye Access app, it requires you to allow access to the camera and calibrate certain points on the screen using your eyes.

Following this, the app gives you a glimpse of the various gestures you can use to scroll through the content and perform a couple more functions. Additionally, you can bookmark various apps within the Hawkeye Access app to make it easier to go surfing.

While I used the app for a while, it was an easy-to-use app. Once you get the hang of using your eyes and not your fingers to access your social media and the web, it becomes quite easy to follow the drill.

Hawkeye Access Availability

While the Hawkeye Access app tends to be a refreshing way of using and controlling a smartphone, it is available for select iPad and iPhone models — mainly the iPhone X, the iPhone XR, the iPhone XS, the iPhone XS Max, and future iPhone models with TrueDepth sensors.

If you have any of the aforementioned iPhones, you can download it from the App Store.

Furthermore, the app will soon allow for integration with other apps that use eye-controlling technology.
